Just another one of my ramblings.....

Castle Devon

A Fantastic Day

2

There we were on holiday, and the first Sunday of our holiday we decided to drive to one of my favourite areas, Torbay.  As a family we have holidayed in Torquay at a Havern site when my grown up mummy’s little soldier was younger, but there is something about that area that always makes me want to return.

I just love the area, especially Paignton and whenever I get the chance I always go back and do the same thing.  Take a ride on the Steam Train to Kingswear and cross the River Dart by Ferry to Dartmouth.  Normally we return by train but this time, I was rail-roaded, by the other half who happens to have sea legs,  into getting the boat back in one of their excursions.

Train from Paignton to Kingswear, ferry across the river to Dartmouth and then boat back to Torquay and open top bus back to Paignton.  And all for £15.50 each.

Well for someone who does doesn’t like water and needs a good shot of Bacardi to steady the nerves before I get on a boat, he was quite surprised how I agreed to this particular excursion.  Mind you there is a nice little pub by the harbour in Dartmouth, which I did frequent before catching the boat to Torquay.

We had a wonderful day, until we came to get on that boat.  Well that Captain could have told us before we set sail, that the swell was quite rough leaving the River Dart heading into the English Channel.  He said, “It might get rough.”  Rough wasn’t the word, mind you I remained calm as I sat on the seat that housed the life jackets and the emergency equipment.

Who wouldn’t especially when their basic swimming technique is classed as two strokes, three bubbles and a funeral.

Anyway just a few photos below of our little trip.

Lots of places to discover and enjoy, wherever one goes. A change is as good as a rest… as some say. :)

I just love Devon and Cornwall Carana.  I don’t know what it is but Torbay is like a magnet to me.  Now I have another area Weymouth that attracts me.

Other half has told me to make your mind up Torbay or Weymouth if I want to move somewhere else.

    Still undecided LOL

Hope you enjoyed reading Regrets and Ramblings..
